Henri Bontenbal's hopeful vision for Europe.
Since Henri Bontenbal was elected as the leader of the CDA, he has presented a hopeful vision on numerous major issues, including Europe. In addition to his role as the parliamentary group leader, he is also responsible for the European dossier on behalf of the CDA in the House of Representatives.
Bontenbal has delivered two major speeches outlining his vision for Europe.
On November 11, 2023, Henri Bontenbal delivered his first speech on Europe titled: "The Revival of the European Dream”. In this address, he articulated a vision wherein a decent nation like the Netherlands thrives through interconnected and flourishing regions within a robust Europe. He emphasized the importance of shared values, collective commitment to justice, and advocated for a socially and environmentally sustainable economy.
At the well-attended CDA party congress on March 23, 2024, where more than 1000 people were present, Bontenbal delved deeper into the soul of Europe. He described a community where every person matters and where people can contribute freely to the service of others and the community. The soul of Europe encompasses the dignity and equality of every person, the responsibility for others, the world and our earth, and the solidarity and fraternity between people and nations. Additionally, he advocates for full support for Ukraine in this speech.
