Zoals Thuis, in Eindhoven!

Donderdagavond hebben wij ons eerste "Feel Home in Eindhoven International (digitaal) Café" georganiseerd.

Tijdens de digitale café hebben verschillende partners in de stad uitgelegd wat ze voor expats doen in onze Brainport regio. Het doel van "Feel home in Eindhoven" is om input van Internationals op te halen en informatie geven over onze stad en uiteindelijk participatie te vergroten. Het CDA Eindhoven vindt het van het grootste belang dat onze expats zich thuis voelen in de Brainport-regio.

Mijn verbinding met het onderwerp
Zelf (Miriam Frosi) ben ik ruim 20 jaar geleden in Eindhoven verhuisd. Het is niet makkelijk om opnieuw te beginnen in een nieuwe omgeving, in een nieuwe stad met nieuw collega's en vrienden; ver weg van familie. "Feel home in Eindhoven" biedt een innovatieve platform waar mensen elkaar kunnen ontmoeten en van gedachten wisselen ten behoeve van het meedoen en participeren in onze samenleving. Iedereen kan zijn of haar inbreng in een informele geven.

Wat hebben gedaan?
We zijn met een quiz gestart, de kennis van Eindhoven bij de deelnemers was erg hoog, de wedstrijd voor de winnaar was erg spannend en gewonnen door een Italiaanse dame. Mijn dank was groot voor de vele maatschappelijke partners in onze stad. Ze gaven interessante interactieve presentatie over wat zij voor expats doen. De participanten gaven belangrijke tips en tops, voor een inclusievere stad. Belangrijke informatie voor ons en onze maatschappelijke stakeholder voor een echt gevoel van "feel home in Eindhoven. De event is terug te zien op onze Facebook-pagina.
 
Wie waren er betrokken bij dit initatief?
In de groep Onderwijs, Werk & Informatie hebben Geert Simons van Stichting Proominent, Heidi Los-Vis van Design your own future en Supriya Vij van Radio Brainport presentaties gegeven. In het gesprek dat hieruit voortkwam kwamen we tot de conclusie dat expats graag zouden meer taallessen willen krijgen en maatschappijleer lessen. Dit is om Nederland betere te leren kennen. In de groep Work, Integration & taal gaven Chaitali Sengupta van" On Point Communication", Angelica Goyenechea van het Centro Latinoamericano de Orientación en Kavitha Varathan van Expat Spouses Initiative uitleg over de manieren waarop je kunt participeren in Eindhoven. De aanwezigen brachten hun zorgen naar voren over bijvoorbeeld huisvesting, het belang van het spreken van de Nederlandse taal.

In de groep Vrije Tijd, Educatie & Informatie gaven Rens Jongerius van Fontys, Beena E. Arunraj van Eindhoven Nieuws en Vishwanat Ng van het Indian Centre In the Netherlands presentaties. Onze deelnemers vinden deze topics erg belangrijk: participeren, vrijwilligerswerk, netwerken en Engels informatie over local happenings. Het was een succes!

Ben jij de volgende keer ook aanwezig?
We pakken het op en met de opgehaalde informatie gaan we de volgende International café organiseren. Deze keer live! Wij willen onze partners bedanken voor hun presentaties en onze gasten voor hun komst die avond.

Feel Home in Eindhoven International (digital) Café

On Thursday evening, we organized our first "Feel Home in Eindhoven International (digital) Café

During the digital café, various partners in the city explained what they do for expats in our Brainport region. The aim of "Feel home in Eindhoven" is to collect input from Internationals and provide information about our city, and ultimately increase participation. The CDA Eindhoven finds it of the utmost importance that our expats feel at home in our city.
I moved to Eindhoven over 20 years ago. I know it is not easy to start over in a new environment, in a new city with new colleagues and friends far away from the family. "Feel home in Eindhoven" offers an innovative platform where people can meet and exchange ideas and participate in our society. Everyone can give his or her input in an informal way. Like being at Home with a coffee, in Eindhoven! We started with a quiz, the knowledge of Eindhoven among the participants was very high. The exciting quiz was won by an Italian lady. Later we show some video of Eindhoven 365 and the 040Library. Many important social partners in our city attend the meeting. They gave interesting interactive presentations about what they do for expats. The participants gave important tips and tops, for a more inclusive city. Important information for us and our social stakeholder to really feel at home in Eindhoven. The event can be seen on our Facebook-page. 
 
We had 3 workshops. In the Education, Work & Information group, Geert Simons of "Stichting Proominent", Heidi Los-Vis of "Design your own future" and Supriya and Karishma Vij of "Radio Brainport" gave presentations. In the ensuing discussion, we came to the conclusion that expats would like to have more language lessons and social studies lessons. This is to get to know the Netherlands better. In the group Work, Integration & language, Chaitali Sengupta of "On Point Communication", Angelica Goyenechea of the "CLO Centro Latinoamericano de Orientación" and Kavitha Varathan of "Expat Spouses Initiative" explained the ways in which you can participate in Eindhoven. The attendees brought up their concerns about housing and the importance of speaking the Dutch language and working environment. 

In the Leisure, Education & Information group Rens Jongerius from "Fontys", Remco and Beena E. Arunraj from "Eindhoven News" and Vishwanat Ng from the "ICIN: Indian Centre In the Netherlands" found these topics very important: participation, volunteering, networking and English information about local happenings. It was a success! We will pick it up and with the information we collected, we will organize the next International café, this time life!
