Internationalisering van het Eindhovense onderwijs (+ English translation)
Internationalisering Onderwijs voor iedereen in Brainport Eindhoven
Internationalisering is niet meer weg te denken in onze samenleving en heeft effect op iedereen. Dat zien we terug in onze Brainport regio. We zien de laatste jaren een grote toename van internationals, zowel kennis- als arbeidsmigranten en statushouders, met kinderen die langer blijven in onze stad en regio. Die grote toename van internationals die langer verblijven, vraagt om een andere aanpak in ons onderwijs.
Die andere aanpak wordt beschreven in de visie “Internationalisering Onderwijs voor iedereen in Brainport Eindhoven”. Deze visie is voorgelegd aan de Raad, die er in de vergadering van 16 juni 2020 mee heeft ingestemd.
Deze visie gaat uit van het educatief model van 3 ringen.
- Ring 1: de ISE (Internationale School Eindhoven),
biedt als enige onderwijsinstelling in de regio het IB (International Baccalaureate) aan. Het IB wordt in het engels gegeven en verzekert de international een doorlopende leerlijn, indien deze in het buitenland wordt voortgezet. De ISE is dan ook een belangrijke vestigingsfactor voor internationals die kort verblijven in Nederland.
- Ring 2: PO (Primair Onderwijs) -scholen met veel internationals (international classrooms),
deze scholen zijn vooral bedoeld voor de internationals die langer in de stad/regio blijven. De international classrooms zijn internationaal samengestelde klassen, met verschillende culturele achtergronden. Er wordt Nederlands geleerd, de instructietaal is niet de moedertaal van de leerlingen. Doordat er Nederlands geleerd wordt en doordat men van en over elkaars cultuur leert, wordt hier een grote bijdrage geleverd aan integratie in de samenleving.
- Ring 3: alle kinderopvang, PO, VO en MBO scholen,
de grote groep scholen en kinderopvang die steeds meer met internationale kinderen te maken gaat krijgen. Deze scholen zullen kunnen leren van de Ring 2 PO-scholen en kunnen, indien ze dat willen, ook een aanvraag indienen bij het project “Internationalisering regulier onderwijs”.
In september 2020 is een kick-off event voor de Internationalisering Onderwijs voor iedereen in Brainport Eindhoven. Alle scholen worden dan uitgenodigd een aanvraag in te dienen in het kader van Internationalisering Onderwijs.

International Education in Brainport region
Internationalisation has become an integral part of our society and affects everyone. This happens in our Brainport region. In recent years we have seen a large increase in internationals, knowledge expats, labour migrants and status-holders. We notice an increasing in Internationals with longer staying in our city and region. The children of the International will get in touch with a new approach in education.
This different approach is described in the vision "Internationalisation of Education in Brainport-Eindhoven". The council approved proudly this vision on the 16th of June.
This vision clusters education in a model of 3 rings.
- Ring 1: the ISE (International School Eindhoven),
offers the IB (International Baccalaureate) as the only educational institution in the region. The International education is given in English and assures the international a continuous learning line if it is continued abroad. The ISE is therefore an important establishment factor for international students who are staying in the Netherlands for short periods of time.
- Ring 2: represents PO (Primary Education) schools with many Internationals (international classrooms) These schools (like RISE) are mainly intended for the Internationals which stay longer in the city/region. The International classrooms are internationally composed classes, with different cultural backgrounds. Dutch is taught, the language of instruction is not the mother tongue of the students. Behind Dutch these schools teaches children to learn from and about each other’s culture. This is a great contribution to integration in society and help children to become International-minded.
- Ring 3: includes all childcare facilities, PO, VO and MBO schools in our regio for all the Dutch children or long-term staying Internationals. The large group of schools and childcare facilities that will increasingly have to deal with international children. These schools will be able to learn from the Ring 2 PO schools and, if they so wish, can also submit an application to the project "Internationalisation regular education".
In September 2020 there will be a kick-off event for the Internationalisation Education in our Brainport region. All schools will then be invited to submit an application within the framework of Internationalisation Education.
